I grew up in Massachusetts and have since lived in Ithaca, NY, Charleston, SC, and Raleigh, NC. Now, I call Little Rock, AR home, where I live with my partner, our dog Biscuit, and our cat Mickey. Outside of teaching, I enjoy exploring the outdoors through walks and camping trips (while Mickey holds down the fort at home). I’m a crafty person who loves collecting hobbies - sewing, knitting, woodworking, jewelry making - you name it, I’ve probably tried it! I also take adult dance classes and am a devoted fan of RuPaul’s Drag Race, having watched nearly every season, including most international franchises and spinoffs.
My dedication to service stems from my childhood, where my mother instilled the value of helping others through volunteering, Girl Scouts, and random acts of kindness. These lessons shaped my commitment to ethics and the greater good, making public service not just a career, but my calling. After nearly a decade, I still love my job as an educator and public servant. Being a professor is a dream come true - every day, I’m inspired by the opportunity to empower others, foster learning, and contribute meaningfully to my community.
This time is made available for me to “meet” and talk with students individually. Please feel free to make an appointment to discuss any questions, concerns, or challenges you have in the course, talk at length about challenges with a topic or issue in your research, or seek advice generally. These meetings are driven by the student’s needs, so please bring specific questions or concerns to the discussion. Additionally, I will periodically offer "informal office hours" on campus for drop-in visits. During this time, you can visit to ask questions about the class or use the space to work. I'll share the reservation information via email with as much notice as possible, but the sessions will be sporadic and optional. I do this for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I want to make myself more accessible to y'all, considering how packed your schedules can get. Secondly, it's an opportunity to create an inclusive atmosphere, boost productivity, and encourage accountability through body doubling.
